Smyle Digital designs, then builds, websites for Pasadena businesses: restaurants, salons, contractors, practices, and shops. Every site is coded from scratch, designed at phone width first, and written page by page around what you do in Pasadena. It is live in 7 to 10 business days.

We also manage Google Business Profiles month to month, while the Local SEO plan adds pages, citations, and review work for businesses that want the map results worked on properly.

We also did something no other web design page for Pasadena has done: we counted. Of the 2,848 Pasadena businesses Google lists in 56 common categories, 757 have no real website on their listing. Those figures, by category and neighborhood, come after the process section.

Source: a Smyle Digital count of 8,970 Google business listings in 56 categories across Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, La Crescenta-Montrose, and La Cañada Flintridge, taken on September 29, 2026. Pasadena figures reflect the September 2026 data pull (2026-09-29).

How Smyle Digital builds sites for Pasadena businesses

Smyle Digital is a boutique web design studio in Los Angeles. We do the work ourselves, from the first layout to the launch checklist, and we build each site from scratch rather than on a template.

The build starts at $2,000 for twelve pages, meaning ten of your choosing plus a Privacy Policy and an Accessibility Statement, with more at $100 a page. It is live in 7 to 10 business days. Half is due to start, half at launch, with three rounds of revisions in between.

  1. One click, then a name

The contact form asks what you need, then your name and email. Everything else comes by email afterward. Your detailed quote is back within 2 business days, or you can skip the form and call (424) 777-3804.

  2. Built for the reader, not the template

Pasadena customers compare pages before they call, so the pages have to hold up to reading. We design at phone width first, then desktop, with layout and type chosen for your business.

  3. Pages that match real searches

Each service gets its own page, written around what you do in Pasadena, with on-page SEO so Google can match it to the searches your customers make. You review and approve every page before launch.

  4. Launch on your own domain

The site runs on a domain plus hosting rented in your name, on accounts you control. You own the code outright. Nothing is owed to us monthly for the site to stay online, and later updates are billed hourly with an estimate first.

  5. The map listing, if you want it worked on

The Google Business Profile plan rebuilds the listing and keeps it active for $299 a month on a six-month term. Local SEO adds new pages, citations, review work, and ads management, quoted per business after we check whether it would pay for itself in Pasadena.

What we found about Pasadena businesses online

Google lists 2,848 operating Pasadena businesses in the categories we searched. 2,091 of them link to a site of their own, a 73% coverage rate that leads the five cities we studied. The remaining 757 are the subject of this page.

Beauty is the weakest group here too: 39% of Pasadena's 788 beauty listings have no real site, and 90 of them link to Instagram or a booking app instead of a website. Auto follows at 36%. Home services shows 29%, with a caveat covered below.

Neighborhood matters more than category in Pasadena. Old Pasadena's 206 listed businesses are at 15% without a real site, Playhouse Village at 20%, South Arroyo at 17%. North Central sits at 44%, Bungalow Heaven at 43%, and Lamanda Park at 36%.

The ZIP codes tell the same story. 91104 holds 372 businesses on Google, and 154 of them lack a real site, or 41%. 91101 is at 20%, 91105 at 19%.

Reviews do not predict a website. 344 of the 757 Pasadena businesses without a real site have ten or more reviews, 136 have fifty or more, and 73 have more than one hundred.

One market on Google has more than 1,100 reviews with an empty website field. A smog check station has more than 800 reviews, a 4.9 rating, and nothing to click.

See where Pasadena's gaps sit

Every Pasadena business in the study is placed on this map at the address on its Google listing, colored by website status. Gray means a site of its own, and Pasadena has more gray than any other city in the study. The orange still gathers along the main commercial corridors, which is where the 757 live.

What a website changes for a nail salon, a mechanic, or a contractor in Pasadena

Beauty: 39% without a real site

Pasadena has 788 beauty listings on Google, more than any other group except food. 220 have an empty website field, 90 more link to Instagram, Facebook, Vagaro, or Booksy. That is 310 salons, barbershops, spas, and studios competing for the same searches without a page Google can rank.

Pasadena customers read before they book. A site with a service menu, prices, a stylist page, and a photo gallery you control answers the questions a profile cannot. It also gives a searcher a reason to pick you over the 156 hair salons that already have one.

Booking apps are where the beauty gap hides. A Vagaro page looks like a site to the owner, but Google treats it as someone else's domain. Your own site can hold the booking button and still be yours.

Auto: 36% without a real site

36% of Pasadena's 549 auto listings have no real site. Auto repair shops are at 39%, mechanics at 38%, body shops at 36%, and smog stations at 38%.

Auto customers arrive with a problem plus a deadline. They want to know if you handle their make, whether you can look at it today, and roughly what it costs. A site answers all three at 7am, before anyone picks up the phone.

The smog station with more than 800 reviews is the clearest example in the city. Its reputation exists only inside Google's box. A one-page site with hours, pricing, and a map would let that reputation work everywhere else a customer looks.

Home services: 29% without a real site, with a caveat

Home services in Pasadena shows 29% without a real site across 339 listings, and the HVAC category alone shows 55% across 95. Read that HVAC number carefully. Several of them carry the marks of a lead-generation front rather than a local contractor: an address that is a suite number, hours listed around the clock, a name that is just the city plus the trade.

The honest reading is that Pasadena's real contractors are better covered than the raw number suggests, and the fronts are competing with them anyway. A homeowner searching "AC repair Pasadena" sees both. The way a real contractor separates itself is a site that shows a license number, a street address, photos of real jobs, and the people who show up.

Plumbers plus electricians are the exception in Pasadena. Of the 18 plumbers on Google, 17 list a site, and all 23 electricians do. If you are a contractor in another trade, that is the standard your customers now expect.

A social page or a booking link is not a website

112 Pasadena listings send customers somewhere other than a site of their own. Instagram accounts for 21, Facebook for 7, Vagaro for 6, Square for 4. A few point at a Google Sites page or a free Wix address.

Each of those does one job: Instagram shows the work, Vagaro takes the booking, Square takes the payment. None of them explains who you are, what you charge, or why a customer in Bungalow Heaven should drive past three competitors to reach you.

Google reads those links as pointers to another company's domain, so whatever you build there stays with Instagram or Vagaro, not with you. A real site collects it in one place you own, with the booking button and the Instagram feed embedded where they belong.

The profile is a good start, and in Pasadena most businesses have one that works. It is still only the map's version of you. A website is the modern business card: the thing a customer opens after the profile gets their attention, and the thing that makes the profile look like it belongs to a real company.

In Pasadena the advantage runs the other way from Glendale: most categories are well covered, so a salon or a mechanic without a site stands out for the wrong reason. Nail salons are the exception, with 53 of 104 lacking a real site. A nail salon with one is in the stronger half by default.

Questions Pasadena owners ask

Does a Pasadena business need a website if it already ranks on Google Maps?

A map listing gets you seen, but it cannot hold a price list, a services page, or a reason to choose you over the next pin. Pasadena customers compare before they call. A site gives that comparison something to read, and it gives Google pages to match to the searches a listing alone cannot cover.

How many businesses in Pasadena have no website on Google?

In September 2026, 757 of the 2,848 Pasadena businesses Google lists in 56 common categories had no real website on their listing, or 27%. That is the lowest share of the five foothill cities Smyle Digital studied, but it still leaves 344 businesses with ten or more reviews and nothing for a customer to click.

Where in Pasadena is the website gap widest?

North Central has the widest gap, with 44% of its 217 listed businesses lacking a real site, followed by Bungalow Heaven at 43% and Lamanda Park at 36%. Old Pasadena is the best covered at 15%. By ZIP code, 91104 is at 41% while 91101 is at 20%.
